Dad, I Don't Embarrass That Easily

While trying to encourage my dad to write a blog on why he likes Sarah Palin I mentioned some concerns I had at the front of my brain. One was who takes care of her young children while she is governing/campaigning. I thought that would also have been a concern to my very conservative father. I am as equally concerned about who takes care of Obama's children while he's out campaigning (or working as a senator or president) as well. I read a really great blog on the subject that mirrors my own feelings on the subject of politics and childcare and also feminism. You can find the article here.

  1. Em, I wish I had some intelligent response as to why I like her so much but I don't. I should clarify, I "like" her. I didn't necessarily vote for that ticket. All though, I live in AZ and because of the way the electorate works, I guess I did, but that is a topic for another day. There is a special place in my heart for working moms and especially for moms with children of special needs. Had Hillary had small children or a Downs baby, we wouldn’t have heard nearly as much criticism. Sarah Palin handled it all beautifully, in my opinion. I actually think she is needed in her home state and has a lot of work there that she can accomplish. Washington would probably ruin her.

  2. I wouldn't be so critical of the childcare issue. Of course we know that a mother at home is the best thing for a child but sometimes that's not possible. There are hundreds of thousands of dual working parents out there.
I'm sure Sarah leaves her children in good hands while she is away.
